At Temp Research Institute Co., the overseas study unit of major staffing agency Tempstaff Co., the number of students who have applied to study at U.S. and U.K. universities next spring or after is up 30% on the year. Ryugaku Journal estimates about 183,000 Japanese students, including short-term language learners, were abroad in 2010, up 18% on the year.
