Innovation

You can't just ask customers what they want & then give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new. Steve Jobs

Why are senators paid more than nurses?

Why are the salaries of our lawmakers-those who decide if public service people get paid or not- higher on average than those who teach our children, those who protect the underprivileged, those who care for the ill, those who go to rescue the unsafe? Just saying.

Continuing my rediscovery of the golden age of investigative TV dramas in the 60's and 70's

Continuing my rediscovery of the golden age of investigative TV dramas in the 60's and 70's, moving from Rockford Files, to Kojak and now Mannix. This is Mad Men style mixed with Jim Rockford panache and James Bond cool. Chilled 2006 Pauillac fits just fine.

Matsuzaka never delivered the goods but got rich

I watched him dominate Koshien and saw a future superstar. Then he went to the States, got fat and started complaining about the workouts. Bit of Irabu Syndrome. What a shame. But he got rich-that is for sure. When he comes back to Japan and is still ineffective, what will happen to the legend?

Hideki Matsuyama is a class act

He is only 19, but played with poise and confidence under the cloud of the disaster in his hometown. AND he tied at one under, the lowest score for an amateur, tied with Phil Mickelson.

A great background on Kamaishi in Iwate prefecture and a multi-hued picture of Japanes cultural history

I have visited Kamaishi a few times when Nippon Steel was still the biggest employer and its rugby team ruled Japan. This article really brings out the "flavor" of the area-a treasure.

A welcome addition to Team Mauer-

Nishioka is talented and in his prime-I guess he misses playing for an American manager like Bobby Valentine.
